On our way! I like the ferry, it's a good way to travel, slows down time, and really makes you feel like you're going somewhere. Started doing the Newhaven Dieppe crossing as a teenager with friends over 40 years ago, taking the early morning crossing to spend the day in France, browsing stationery shops and hanging out in cafes, all felt very exotic back then but still just as exciting!

Been such a busy year, so many late nights working @eastbournestudiopottery with his music to keep me company it seemed brilliantly fitting to catch him live this evening in the same week that our exhibition #letscreatetogether opens @townergallery

I've been working for almost a year putting together this @aceagrams and East Sussex Arts Partnership funded project. From the initial proposal - finding a simple way to celebrate community, creativity and making connections - to the exhibition of 500+ plates @townergallery in just under two weeks time

The project in a snapshot:

Invite 20 visiting artists and over 60 local, socially engaged groups to take part in one of 35 plate making workshops @eastbournestudiopottery between November 2023 and May 2024 - it's been busy!

Each workshop brought two groups together to make alongside each other as a gentle catalyst for conversation and generating ideas around the importance of creativity and making connections in what is too often an isolated society

The feedback from participating groups has been overwhelmingly positive. Huge thanks to all the visiting artists:

Screenprinting, stencils, underglazes - we went a bit pop, a bit film noir, a bit Saul Bass for our @aceagrams funded plate workshop with the brilliantly talented group from @eastbournecollege

Thanks to Clare @processclub for doing a super speedy turnaround on the screens we designed especially for the workshop. All the stencils were cut on a @cricut Explore 3 smart cutting machine - a really useful bit of kit at the studio

The colours will become more intense after firing and glazing. Come and see them up close in the exhibition @townergallery on the 6 & 7 July with over 400 other plates

I've been making new planting beds in the back garden enriched with compost from our food waste bin - up springs the most glorious courgette, show worthy leaves - not a nibble or crinkle and all just from an uncomposted seed languishing in the mix. It's had no care and no watering except the odd drip of rain but just keeps getting better and better!
